NAA Basketball

The NAA has extended registration for 3rd Graders (C League) and continues to take registrations for its Senior (10th-12th Gr.) League. Visit naabasketball.org to register.

The registration deadline has passed for Grades 4-9. Limited spaces may be available. Call 617-559-6999 to inquire. The NAA is generally considered a boys league, but girls are welcome. All players are welcome regardless of ability or experience. Visit naabasketball.org for more information.

The Winter Basketball Program is something the Club prides itself on and has helped the development of young players throughout Newton for many years.

It is one of the few organized basketball programs that offers leagues for kids ages 6 – 18. Each league is structured to provide the right amount of teaching and support for the specific age group. The teams for each division are balanced by age and ability to make for a competitive and enjoyable experience for all.

The race starts and ends at Zervas elementary school, 30 Beethoven Ave.  It will be timed by RaceWire and Newton Police will monitor the race course.

Register now for Newton Girls Basketball

Registration is underway for the upcoming Newton Girls Basketball season, which runs from late November through mid-March.

NGBA is a recreational league for Newton girls with fun for beginners and experienced players alike! Games are played on Saturdays for all grades, starting December 1st and continuing into mid-March.

Grades 3-8 practices are for 1-hour on one evening during the week (Mon-Thurs). You will be able to select one day on the registration form that you are NOT able to practice. There are no weekday practices for Grade 2 and High School. The Grade 2 program is focused on a fun, learning environment.

Grade 2 $95 – deadline November 19

* A late fee will apply after the deadline. If the program is oversubscribed after the deadline, your child will be placed on a waitlist and you will be contacted by a grade coordinator.

Free badminton for kids in grades 6-12

Tuesday evenings from 6:30-8:00 pm and Thursday evenings from 5:30-7:00 pm is free badminton for middle and high schoolers from October through June. Bring friends and join the fun! Program sponsored by the Newton Partnership and the Hyde Community Gym. For more information call: 617-999-4617.

Newton Youth Hockey

Registration for Newton Youth Hockey’s Learn to Skate and Learn to Play programs is now open.

Learn to Skate

This program is intended for kids who are new to skating or need further work on skating basics. The focus is on having fun while teaching them through games and other activities. We work on getting up, balancing, pushing, gliding and stopping. There is one practice per week. NYH runs two 9 week sessions. The first session starts November 22nd at Daly Rink.

Learn to Play

This is the introduction to hockey program. Participants need the full complement of hockey pads. The program will build on skating skills, and introduce hockey stops, cross overs, more advanced balancing, stick use and puck handling, etc. Kids are placed into the program based on their birth year. From there, they are assigned teams and will continue with those same teams for the whole season. Register now for NAA Youth Basketball

Registration for NAA Youth Basketball is open — deadline is Oct. 17. The Newton Athletic Association (NAA) is a non-profit, volunteer-run organization that manages and administers youth basketball leagues in Newton in partnership with Newton Community Education.

The Leagues are for boys and girls in Grades 3-12. All players are welcome regardless of ability or experience.

A mandatory evaluation clinic will be held on Sunday, October 19 (make-up date is 10/20) for kids in grades 4-9 in order to create and balance the teams. Registration deadline for grades 4-9 is October 17.

The season consists of 10-12 games that are played on either Saturdays or Sundays, depending on the league. Practices are held one night each week, Sunday-Thursday.

The program runs mid-November through mid-March. Fees range from $135-$170, depending on the league.
