Safety, Awareness, and Physical Skills for Middle School Girls

Temple Emanuel in conjunction with the City of Newton is offering a two hour class for girls ages 11-13. The class will be taught by Newton and Boston police on Sunday September 29th from 4:00 – 6:00 pm. There is limited space so if you have a child interested please sign up right away by emailing joannekazarian@gmail.com.

The class will take place at Temple Emanuel in the Benjamin Vestry. Workout clothes should be worn and water bottles are an excellent idea! There is a $30.00 fee for the class.

DIVAS WITH a TWIST

The City of Newton welcomes Divas With a Twist to the Newton Cultural Center at City Hall on Saturday September 21st for an 8:00 pm show.  The concert is a benefit for The Spotlighters, the City of Newton’s theatre program for teens and adults with disabilities.  The Divas are among the hottest female voices in the Boston area that sing pop, funk, jazz, rock and Broadway.

The ensemble includes Kristen Huberdeau, the director and founder of The Spotlighters, a Boston Pops Idol winner and Grammy nominated musicians.  The Spotlighters are part of Newton’s Athletes Unlimited program, which is one of the largest community-based therapeutic recreation programs for people with disabilities in the area.

PMC KIDS RIDE FOR NEWTON-NEEDHAM-BROOKLINE

The PMC Kids Ride will be held on Sunday, September 29th at 180 Wells Avenue in Newton. Donations go to the Jimmy Fund at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. There will be five different riding courses including: 1 mile office park loop, 10 mile road ride, 20 mile teen ride, toddler ride and a virtual ride. Rides start at 8:45am. There will be kids activities, a fire truck, raffles and more. Post-ride party is from 11am-12pm.
