Newton Mothers’ Forum Mothers’ Night Out!

Newton Mothers’ Forum is thrilled to announce the Keynote Speaker for the evening will be Dr. Jean Kilbourne, Author/Speaker/Filmmaker. Dr. Kilbourne is an internationally recognized expert on addictions, gender issues, and the media. She has been described as “a superstar lecturer” by The Boston Globe and has spoken at about half of all the colleges and universities in the U.S. and many conferences. Her first film, “Killing Us Softly: Advertising’s Image of Women” is among the most popular educational films of all time and is the topic of her presentation for NMF. She is also a well-known author, with titles such as “So Sexy So Soon: The New Sexualized Childhood and What Parents Can Do to Protect Their Kids” and “Can’t Buy My Love: How Advertising Changes the Way We Think and Feel.” In recognition of her important work, she was inducted into the National Women’s Hall of Fame in October. She is also a Newton mom. You do not want to miss this event!

The Community Spotlight Speaker will be from The Second Step, a local nonprofit that helps survivors of domestic violence. Please remember that if you have signed up to donate a holiday gift to this organization, bring it with you to the meeting. You can also bring Star Market stickers for flatware to donate as well.

The food for the evening will be catered by New England Soup Factory with comfort food that is good for you. Vegetarian and gluten-free options will be available.
