Newton North alum Kyle Ray-Canada lost confidence in his math ability while he was in middle school. Now a college freshman, he’s the go-to guy for classmates needing math help. His mom credits his participation in The Calculus Project.
For the fifth consecutive year, a generous Newton resident will once again match up to $25,000 in contributions made to The Calculus Project during March.

Research shows a strong correlation between taking high-level math in high school and completing college. Prior to The Calculus Project, few Black, Hispanic, and low-income students were represented in advanced math classes in Newton’s middle schools and high schools.
