“The Politics of Inspiration” Teen Writing Contest

The Newton Free Library is holding a “Politics of Inspiration Essay Writing Contest” for teens.

Who inspires you?
What does it mean to inspire?

Please research someone who works for the city, local, or municipal government, or relate a personal example of someone who has made a difference in the local community with their political action and courage.

Applicants should submit and essay of 1,000 words or less, double-spaced in 12 point Times New Roman font. A variety of sources such as newspaper articles, books and interviews must be used. Prizes will be awarded: first place $100, second place $50, third place $25.

Submissions are due on Friday, October 12th and can be sent (attachment) via email or dropped off at the library’s second floor Teen Area desk. teens@newtonfreelibrary.net. More details on submissions are available from the library.
